Uganda Christian University

Uganda Christian University (UCU) is a private, co-educational university located in Mukono, Uganda. It was established in 1997 by the Church of Uganda, and is the first university in East and Central Africa to be founded on Christian principles. UCU is accredited by the National Council for Higher Education and its degrees are recognized by the Ugandan government.

The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a variety of disciplines including Business Administration, Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Law and Theology. The University also has a number of research centers including the Centre for Research in Governance, Development and Peace Studies; Centre for Research in HIV/AIDS; Centre for Research in Gender Studies; Centre for Research in Disaster Management; Centre for Research in Economic Development; and Centre for Research in Sustainable Agriculture.

UCU has five campuses: Main Campus (Mukono), Arua Campus (Arua), Gulu Campus (Gulu), Mbale Campus (Mbale) and Fort Portal Campus (Fort Portal). All campuses offer undergraduate courses as well as some postgraduate courses. The main campus at Mukono also offers postgraduate courses such as Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Information Technology, Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and Master of Laws.

The University has an active student life with clubs and societies such as the Student Christian Fellowship (SCF), Rotaract Club, Toastmasters Club, Law Society and Sports Clubs. UCU also provides students with opportunities to participate in international exchange programs through its various partnerships with universities around the world such as Duke University (USA), Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Waseda University (Japan).

UCU is committed to providing quality education to its students through its dedicated faculty members who have years of experience teaching at both local universities within Uganda as well as international universities abroad. The University also provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate financial need through its various scholarship programs such as the Uganda Christian University Scholarship Fund which provides tuition fee waivers for deserving students.
