Tennessee Temple University

Tennessee Temple University was a private, Baptist university in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was founded in 1946 by Dr. Lee Roberson as a Bible college and was affiliated with the Independent Baptist movement. The school grew to become an accredited four-year liberal arts college and graduate school with a student body of around 2,000 students.

The university offered more than 50 undergraduate degree programs and 15 graduate degree programs in fields such as business, education, religion, music, and nursing. The campus also included the Tennessee Temple School of Nursing and the Tennessee Temple Theological Seminary.

The university had a strong focus on spiritual life with daily chapel services and religious instruction being required of all students. It also had an emphasis on missions work with many students participating in mission trips each year.

In addition to academics and spiritual growth, the university also provided many extracurricular activities for its students including sports teams, student organizations, intramural sports leagues, Greek life organizations, drama productions and musical performances.

The university closed in 2015 due to financial difficulties but many alumni remain active through alumni associations and reunions. The campus is now owned by the city of Chattanooga and has been renovated into a multi-use complex called "The Commons". The former chapel building is now used as a community center for local churches while other buildings are used for office space or apartments for rent.

Tennessee Temple University left behind a legacy of faith-based education that still impacts the Chattanooga area today. Its graduates have gone on to serve their communities through various ministries or professions while its faculty members have continued their work in higher education at other universities around the country. The university's impact can still be seen today through its alumni who continue to serve their communities through service or ministry work while others are successful professionals in their respective fields.
