Montreat College

Montreat College is a private Christian liberal arts college located in Montreat, North Carolina. Founded in 1916 as the Presbyterian Mountain School, it was renamed Montreat College in 1967. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, including traditional classroom-based courses, online courses, and hybrid courses.

The college's main campus is located on a 300-acre site in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. The campus features a variety of buildings and facilities for student use, including residence halls, academic buildings, recreational facilities, student organizations, and other amenities.

Montreat College offers over 30 majors and minors including Business Administration, Computer Science, Education, Fine Arts & Communication Arts, Health Sciences & Nursing, Humanities & Social Sciences, Mathematics & Natural Sciences, Psychology & Counseling Studies. The college also offers several pre-professional programs such as Pre-Law and Pre-Medicine.

In addition to its degree programs offered on campus at Montreat College also offers online degrees. Online degree programs include business administration; criminal justice; education; health sciences; human services; psychology; public administration; religious studies; social work; and sport management.

Montreat College has an active student life with over 40 clubs and organizations available for students to join. These include academic honor societies such as Alpha Chi Honor Society and Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society as well as religious organizations like Campus Crusade for Christ and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The college also hosts numerous annual events such as Homecoming Weekend and the annual Mountain Day celebration which celebrates the college's founding in 1916.

Montreat College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). It is also approved by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors to offer degree programs at its main campus in Montreat or through distance learning methods such as online learning or hybrid classes that combine traditional classroom instruction with online instruction.
